Westchester County Golf Courses Showcased at The County Center Golf Show, March 19 & 20
Westchester County’s six publicly owned golf courses will be showcased during the Journal News Golf Show, featuring the latest in golf equipment, technology, golf lessons and much more, Saturday, March 19, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, March 20, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.
The Westchester County Parks Department, which will sponsor the event, will have information for golfers about its six challenging 18-hole golf courses, located throughout the county. The courses have PGA professionals, fully stocked pro-shops and a variety of amenities. Three of the courses have driving ranges. Pros from the courses will be on hand to give swing tips and sell merchandise. Golfers will also be able to purchase golf gift certificates, as well as resident Park Passes, which entitle holders to special golf rates, tee-time reservation privileges and other park system benefits.
The county-owned golf courses are Mohansic in Yorktown Heights; Maple Moor in White Plains; Saxon Woods in Scarsdale; Dunwoodie and Sprain Lake, both in Yonkers, and Hudson Hills in Ossining.
The two-day extravaganza is specifically designed for the regular golfer and will feature a number of golf club manufacturers demonstrating their new 2005 products.
In addition, there will be a golf simulator, a $10,000 Hole-in-One contest, Metropolitan Golf Association rules seminars, physical fitness demonstrations, putting on a green provided by Home Green Advantage and the Sybase Classic contest in which one lucky person will win a car.
Nearly 75 exhibitors will be on hand from many golf related fields including courses, golf destinations, golf travel, golf resorts and golf fitness.
Hourly prizes will be drawn from registration forms filled out by attendees. Prizes will include county golf gift certificates and other golf related items. A grand prize of round trip airfare for four will be provided by Jet Blue Airways.
Other sponsors for the show are WFAS Radio and News 12 Westchester. Admission is $9; free for children under 12. Parking $4.
The Westchester County Center is located at 198 Central Avenue in White Plains, at the junction of Route 119 (Tarrytown Road) and the Bronx River Parkway.
