Croton Blog: Muscoot's Perfect Pumpkins

Halloween just wouldn’t be Halloween without a jack-o’-lantern, but first you’ve got to pick a perfect pumpkin, which you can do during Muscoot Farm’s annual Pumpkin Pickin’ Weekend, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, October 8, 9 and 10, noon to 3 p.m., at the farm in Somers.

There will be a huge assortment of pumpkins to choose from in the patch located in the backfields of the farm. Families can take a fun hayride to the backfields or they can buy their pumpkin from the children’s pumpkin patch in the farm complex. Bring a sack to carry your pumpkin.

There is a $2 fee for the hayride and there will be an additional fee for the pumpkin, depending on weight. The program is co-sponsored by the Friends of Muscoot.

While at the farm, visitors are encouraged to tour its 777 acres and visit the resident cows, horses, goats, sheep and pigs.

Muscoot is a Westchester County Park located on Route 100 in Somers and can be reached via I-684, exit 6. Go west on Route 35 to Route 100 and turn left; the farm is one-and-a-half miles down on the right. The park is accessible to the disabled with assistance.
