Croton Blog: Want a More Biking & Pedestrian Friendly Croton?

Well, then you are not the only one… Join Croton’s Bicycle & Pedestrian Committee for their second community outreach meeting on Wednesday, February 28, 2007, at 7:30 PM in the Stanley H. Kellerhouse Municipal Building, located at 1 Van Wyck Street, Croton-on-Hudson.

During the meeting, the committee hopes to gather more ideas from residents “for improving roadway safety for cyclists and pedestrians, increasing non-motorized travel, and promoting recreational use of Croton’s roads and trails,” according to a recent email sent to residents.

Members of the committee include; Chair Josh Moreinis, Joe Biber, Rob Olsson, Justin Casson, Jeremy Goldsmith, Kevin Davis, Karen Moy and Trustee-liason Ann Gallelli. More information from the Bicycle & Pedestrian Committee can be found on the village website.

I’m sorry I missed the meeting the other day. I think it would be great if we could have a bike trail/sidewalk going up Mt Airy (off of Grand). A lot of people walk, ride, and run up and down Mt Airy, and it’s very dangerous.

I see middle and high school students walking down from King Street and farther up, taking their lives in their hands.

I think a lot more people could leave their cars at home and walk to local Croton businesses if Mt Airy were more accessible to pedestrians…
