Family "Bingo Night" Returns to Croton Friday

“Bingo Night” is back by popular demand and is set for Friday, February 2, 2007 (snow date Friday, February 9, 2007) at 6:45 PM in the Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School (CET) multi-purpose room.

In its 4th year, this CET PTA “Family Fun Night” promises an evening out of much fun with friends and neighbors in Croton. During the games, Pizza, snacks and refreshments will be be available while all of the proceeds will directly support future educational enrichment programs at CET. And though there will be no cash prizes awarded to players, there will be plenty of “cool stuff” for the kids and even a few special prizes for the adults.

Croton "Parent University" Session on Social Skills set for Saturday

“Parent University 2007,” sponsored by the CET PTA, opens for a one-day presentation on Saturday, January 27, 2007 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School multi-purpose room.

Keynote speakers Psychologist Carol Frankel and Social Worker Renee Tanner will speak about their presentation, “Second Step Social Skills.” Following the session, those in attendance can break out into smaller groups for continued topical discussions. Refreshments will also be served.

Additionally, the CET PTA notes that those wishing to attend this free presentation can join them for the whole morning, just the keynote or just the workshop.

Author J.C. Greenburg in Croton for Book Signing Friday

On Friday, January 26, 2007, the CET PTA is welcoming Croton students and parents to meet author J.C. Greenburg from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM at the Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School multi-purpose room.

J.C. Greenburg pens the “Andrew Lost” book series, and during this event attendees can purchase her books (for only $3.99 each), get them autographed, and enjoy some cookies and hot chocolate. For more information about Ms. Greenburg and her book series, visit her website at www.andrewlost.com.

Author Rafe Martin to Tell His Stories in Croton

The CET PTA invites residents to join them for a magical evening of imagination and mystery, legend and folklore with author and storyteller Rafe Martin on Friday, May 12, 2006 at 7:00 PM in the CET Multipurpose room.

Rafe Martin is an award-winning author of more than 20 books and has been captivating and inspiring audiences at America’s most prestigious storytelling festivals. Mr. Martin reworks tales from thousands of years and dozens of cultures while offering modern lessons in expression and connection.

Croton's Finest Coffee with the Principal

Join Diana Bowers, principal of the Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School (CET) for a “Coffee” on both Wednesday, March 15, 2006 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the CET Teacher Reference Room. Principal Bowers will be discussing the development of a new after-school enrichment program and a review of a recently held Superintendent’s Conference Day with Ellin Keene.

CET PTA Presents Seven Keys to Comprehension

CET PTA Parent Education present a special reading workshop for parents called “Seven Keys to Comprehension” on each of the following Tuesday mornings, March 14, 28, April 4, 18, 25, 2006 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School (CET).

In a second of a series of reading and writing workshops with CET Principal Diana Bowers and special guest instructors from the CET staff. In the workshops, participants will learn to read and understand text the “CET way”—the same way the kids are taught.

Mardi Gras Dance Party at CET!

Beads? Glitter? Masks? Mardi Gras at the CET Family Dance Party is set for Friday, March 10, 2006 from 7:00 to 9:30 PM in the multi-purpose room at Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School. Come chase away the winter blues with a hot DJ and cool dancers. There will be lots of fun art projects and activities for the “boogie-shy”. The cover charge—$5.00 per person or $20.00 per family—includes the music, Mardi Gras beads, Tattoos and dance floor givaways.

Bingo Night Returns to Croton

Bingo Night at Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School, Croton on Hudson, New YorkCome on out with the kids for some good clean fun on Friday February 10, 2006 at 7:00 PM (snow date: February 17th) for Bingo Night (view the photo gallery from last year) in the Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School (CET) Multipurpose Room.

Bingo cards are available at the door for $3.00 each. In between games players can nibble on hot dogs, snacks and bake sale goodies. Refreshments of many a variety will also be on-hand while all proceeds going to benefit enrichment programs at CET. Bingo is a CET PTA family fun event – there will be no cash prizes but plenty of cool stuff for the kids.
